Hundreds of Makueni residents trouped to the Makindu Show Ground as the second County Annual ASK Show and Trade Fair kicked off in style.
Over 2,000 people on Thursday attended the agricultural exhibition organised by the County Government in partnership with the Agricultural Show of Kenya.
Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana and the Polish ambassador to Kenya are expected to officially open the Show on Friday.
Several exhibitors are participating in this year’s event seen as an improvement to the first show held in 2017.
The show mainly facilitated by the departments of Trade, Indutry, Tourism and Co- operatives and Agriculture provides a platform for people to learn and showcase various technological innovations.
The department’s Chief Officer Diana Muli said that the Trade Fair also provides an opportunity for departments to create awareness of the services they offer to the Makueni citizenry.
She said: “This show usually gives people an opportunity to learn from each other and be able to showcase their innovations as well. It is also a good platform for the county departments to create awareness on the services they offer to the people of Makueni.
According to the County Revenue Director Mr Joseph Thion’go, close to 2,000 people checked in at Makindu show ground to interact with various exhibitors and service providers who are displaying agricultural products and services and showcasing various technological innovations.
“Today we have had close to 2,000 people attending the Show here at Makindu and especially school going children who have been able learn a lot from the exhibitors present, “Mr Thiong’o said.
The show whose theme is promoting innovation and technology in agriculture and trade will close on Saturday.
