Machakos and Nyeri counties have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a joint inter-county governmental relations.
The MOU creates an official and legal foundation for a strong relationship that will see accelerated development meant to create jobs, improve healthcare, provide efficient services, build roads and grow industries.
“Leadership is about changing lives in a positive manner, ending tribal politics and discarding corrupt leaders who have impoverished the masses,” said Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua.
Mutua and his Nyeri counterpart Mutahi Kahiga said their new found union will cooperate in various sectors including agriculture, trade and infrastructure development.
The two signed the agreement at the latter’s office as Mutua completed his three day tour of the county on Saturday.
The two county chiefs noted that devolution is a perfect instrument to battle poverty in the country by stimulating economic growth through partnerships and sharing of experiences.
Governor Mutua had traveled to Nyeri County on a bench marking mission, few weeks after his Nyeri counterpart Mutahi Kahiga did the same for three days in Machakos County.
