Governor Ngilu today visited residents of Mutha ward in Kitui South sub County, to Launch an afforestation program which is aimed at achieving 10% Forest Cover.
She marked the initiative by planting a tree together with Deputy Governor Dr Wathe Nzau and Water, Livestock and Agriculture Mr. Emmanuel Kisangau, at Mutha Secondary.
At least 9000 seedlings will be distributed to 37 Primary Schools, 7 secondary schools and three Self help groups in Mutha Ward.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ngilu said that the County Government has bought a tractors for Wards, for ploughing Farms.
She then distributed bursary cheques worth Ksh 700,000 to Secondary Schools in Mutha Ward.
Addressing water Shortage, She said that by Monday an Engineer will have assessed and started process of drilling a borehole in the ward.
She urged the residents to embrace the Universal Health Care once its Launched in June. The programme is aimed at ensuring free Medical cover for each family for the whole Year, after paying just a thousand shillings.
